Course Format
Length: One day, 8 hours per course
Class Size: Up to 10 officers/deputies/agents per class (consistent with Archway Defenses rifle course capacity)
Instruction Style: Hands-on, high-repetition, performance-driven — minimal classroom time, maximum rangetime.
Focus Areas: Draw stroke and presentation, grip and stance mechanics, trigger control, speed and accuracy under
time pressure, malfunction clearance, and decision-making drills
The course pushes shooters to identify and eliminate bad habits, adopt more efficient mechanics, and build the
kind of split-second precision that modern policing demands. Every drill is run with immediate feedback and
measurable repetitions so officers can see tangible improvement over the course of the day.
“Suck Less With a Pistol” is Archway Defenses flagship pistol proficiency course, previously delivered to law
enforcement audiences including multiple years presenting across Texas for TTPOA. The course is built around a
simple premise: officers need to leave the range shooting faster, more accurately, and with more confidence than
when they arrived — because in the field, precision under pressure is what protects both the officer and the
public.
Archway Defense respectfully submits this proposal to the Indiana SWAT Officer Association (ISOA) to bring a
statewide Pistol Training Road Tour to Indiana law enforcement agencies. Building on the strong reception of
Archway Defense rifle-based road tour with ISOA and the pistol course previously hosted for the Texas Tactical
Police Officers Association (TTPOA), this tour will deliver the “Suck Less With a Pistol” course to officers and
deputies across the state in a single, easy-to-schedule, one-day format.
Officers are responsible for bringing their duty or issued pistol, a minimum of three magazines, holster, magazine
pouches, eye and ear protection, and sufficient duty-caliber ammunition (recommended minimum 300 rounds per
officer; exact round count to be confirmed by lead instructor).
