The Law Enforcement Sniper Course is intended to provide initial training for newly appointed snipers as well as veteran law enforcement snipers seeking to progress and develop their skills.

 

This course goes beyond shooting a precision rifle; it prepares the students for operational use as a law enforcement sniper. Graduates of the course will leave with an understanding in sniper operations planning, observation & reporting, camouflage & concealment techniques in both rural and urban environments, and more.

 

This course is designed for law enforcement snipers who are seeking to elevate their skills with advanced, practical training.

Topics Include:

  • Fundamentals of Marksmanship

  • Unknown Distance Shooting

  • Positional Shooting and Tripod
    Utilization

  • Observation and Reporting

  • Urban and Rural Hide Construction

  • Reality-Based Training Exercises

Required Items:

  • 400 rounds of match grade ammunition

  • Eye protection (clear)

  • Ear protection (electronic preferred)

  • Precision Rifle Capable of 1 MOA or better

  • Optic with adjustable turrets (illuminated reticle preferred)

  • Tools for weapon system, to include scope. At least one set per agency. (i.e. Fix-It-Sticks)

  • Bipods on weapon system (cant adjustment preferred)

  • Scope level (electronic or bubble)

  • 2x magazines (if applicable to weapon system)

  • Support bag (i.e. gamechanger)

  • Pen and paper

  • Ballistic computer (Hornady 4DOF is free for iPhone/android)

  • Tripod capable of supporting rifle weight

  • Backpack / range bag

  • Arm board or data board on rifle

  • Magazine pouch (belt or LBV mounted)

  • Rifle cleaning equipment

  • Rifle sling

  • Spare batteries for all electronics

  • Pruning shears, small

  • All call out equipment, to include gas mask

Recommended Items:

  • Kestrel

  • Laser Range Finder

  • Radar or Chronograph

  • Weather appropriate clothing

  • Folding chair

  • Sun screen

  • Bug spray

  • Water source

  • Snack and lunch (Lunch will be conducted on the firing line)

This course is $350 for ISOA Members with a current team or individual membership, If you are not a member the course will be $400
